Carrabba appointed to Brazos River Authority board

Mark Carrabba of Bryan was appointed Tuesday to the board of directors of the Brazos River Authority, which is responsible for developing and conserving the surface water resources of the Brazos River Basin.

Gov. Rick Perry made the appointment, which requires Senate confirmation.

Carrabba is co-owner and senior vice president of Gooseneck Trailer Manufacturing Co. He also is managing partner of Carrabba Brothers Partnership Farms. He is in the Bryan-College Station Homebuilders Association and is a past president of the Bryan Business Council.

He owns property at the intersection of Boonville Road and Earl Rudder Freeway where Premiere Cinema Corp. plans to build a 16-screen movie theater later this year.

Five other members were appointed to the board Tuesday: Jacqueline Baly Chaumette of Sugar Land, Jere Lawrence of Sweetwater, Billy Moore of Granbury, Roberto Bailon of Belton and Wade Gear of Mineral Wells.

In addition, member Joe Hinton of Crawford was named chairman of the board.
