College Station man gets probation for embezzlement

Eagle Staff Report

A College Station man was sentenced to a year of deferred adjudication probation Monday after pleading guilty to bilking a local Bank of America branch out of about $1,150.

Victor Julian Arizpe-Adame, 24, was an employee of the bank last March when he embezzled the money in $30 increments — reversing customer overdraft fees and instead putting the money into friends’ accounts, prosecutors said. He was charged with theft between $500 and $1,500, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.

As conditions of the plea agreement, he is required to pay the money back, write a letter of apology to the bank, pay a $1,000 fine and complete 80 hours of community service.
