F.M. 1179 at Grassbur Creek was shut down indefinitely Thursday after about an inch of water on the roadway made it impassable, officials said.

Texas Department of Transportation officials closed the road at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday because the creek was still rising, said Bob Colwell, a spokesman with the department.

It was unclear when the road will open, he said.
