Below is a look at how former high school football players from the Brazos Valley are performing in the college ranks:

Four-Year Colleges

Lance Byrd, Rice, DB (Madisonville): Byrd recorded his first tackle of the season in the 48-10 victory over Army.

Sam Carter, Henderson State, DE (Consol): Carter made six tackles in the 16-9 victory over West Georgia, including one for a loss. His defense gave up just 229 total yards.

Richard Chambers, Tarleton, DB (Consol): Chambers made five tackles in the 21-19 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma. He has 17 tackles this season.

William DeWease, Mary Hardin-Baylor, DT (Leon): DeWease had one tackle in the 38-15 victory over McMurry. He helped Mary Hardin-Baylor's defense hold McMurry to minus 34 yards rushing. This season, DeWease has seven tackles.

Brian Ford, Stephen F. Austin, LB (Calvert): Ford had three tackles in the 17-9 loss to No. 11 North Dakota State. Ford has 17 tackles this season.

Larry Gilbert, Texas A&M-Commerce, DT (Bryan): Gilbert had four tackles in the 10-3 loss to Central Oklahoma. He has 21 tackles this season.

Hunter Hamrick, Mary Hardin-Baylor, P (Bremond): Hamrick punted eight times in the victory over McMurry. The senior averaged 44 yards per punt, including a 69-yarder and four punts inside the 20.

Justin Hanel, Texas-El Paso, DT (Cameron): Hanel had four tackles in the 44-38 victory over New Mexico State. He has 15 tackles this season.

Randall Hutchinson, Eastern New Mexico, DE (Navasota): The sophomore had three tackles in the 21-0 loss to Abilene Christian. He has eight this season.

Mark Kaspar, The Citadel, P (Navasota): Kaspar had three punts in the 24-21 victory over Chattanooga, the Bulldogs' first victory of the season. Kaspar averaged 51 yards per punt, including one inside the 20. His longest punt went for 65 yards.

David Nixon, BYU, LB (A&M Consolidated): Nixon had seven tackles in the 31-17 victory over No. 15 TCU. The sophomore has 24 tackles this season.

Shane O'Neal, Henderson State, DT (Consol): O'Neal had three tackles in the victory over West Georgia. He has 26 tackles this season.

Bernard Palmer, Henderson State, RB (Consol): The sophomore carried the ball 16 times for 51 yards in the victory over West Georgia. Palmer also had two receptions for 7 yards.

Billy Pittman, Texas, WR (Cameron): Pittman caught one pass for 14 yards in the 56-3 victory over Sam Houston State. This season, he has eight catches for 82 yards.

Syndric Steptoe, Arizona, WR (Bryan): Steptoe caught his first touchdown of the season in the 21-10 loss to Washington. He finished with 120 total yards, including five catches for 85 yards. He leads the team in catches (19) and receiving yards (291).

Stryker Sulak, Missouri, DL (Rockdale): Sulak made one tackle in the 28-13 victory over Colorado. He has 24 tackles this season.

Limas Sweed, Texas, WR (Brenham): Sweed caught three passes for 70 yards, including his team-high fifth receiving touchdown, in the victory over Sam Houston State. Sweed has 19 catches for 340 yards.

Junior Colleges

Dustin Calhoun, Navarro, CB (Consol): Calhoun made six tackles in the 26-3 loss to Trinity Valley JC. He has 29 tackles this season.

Gary Ragston, Blinn, WR (Brenham): Ragston carried the ball twice in the victory over Tyler JC. He has five carries for 29 yards this season.

Darius Roberts, Blinn, DB (Brenham): Roberts had one tackle in the 45-3 victory over Tyler JC. This season, he has four tackles.

Lamont Roberts, Blinn, RB (Brenham): Roberts carried the ball five times for 25 yards in the victory over Tyler JC. He has 11 carries for 92 yards this season.
