Elizabeth Crawley of Bryan was named a member of the 2002-03 Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.

Crawley is a senior on the Randolph-Macon Women’s College riding team. She was a 2000 graduate of Allen Academy.


Marine Corps Pfc. Coty J. Lohse, son of Rene L. and Eddie D. Lohse of Caldwell, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.

Lohse is a 2002 graduate of Caldwell High School.


Kevin Fisher of Bryan was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Schreiner University in Kerrville.


Beth Ann Hackethorn of College Station recently earned a master’s in psychology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.


Darrel McLaughlin of Bryan was named to the President’s Honor Roll for the spring semester 2003 at Texas State Technical College in Waco.

McLaughlin is a student in industrial maintenance and engineering technology.


Christina Meier, DVM, and William Scherrer, DVM, have joined the teaching staff of the Texas A&M University veterinary teaching hospital.

Dr. Meier and Dr. Scherrer are 2003 graduates of the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine.


Aaron M. Van Slyke of College Station was named to the University of Wyoming spring semester President’s Honor Roll.


Bradley Carlton, a junior accounting and economic major from Bryan, has been named to the Luther College Dean’s List for the spring semester.

Carlton is a 2000 graduate of Bryan High School and is the son of Paul Carlton of Eagan, Minn., and Rebecca Carlton of Bryan.


Desirae Hope Duffield — interdisciplinary studies; Pamela Nicole Vance — pre-business; and Michelle Renae Weathers — general business, all of Bryan; and Emily Elizabeth Becker — music performance; Matthew Scott Hoelscher — criminal justice; and Courtney Lee Jackson — interior design, all of College Station, have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Stephen F. Austin State University.


Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Aaron S. Dumas, son of Lois Dumas of Rockdale, has recently returned from Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Dumas is a member of the Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron-352 “Raiders” attached to Marine Aircraft Group 11, Third Marine Aircraft Wing, based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif.

His unit was responsible for 95 percent of the KC-130 refueling missions accomplished in Iraq while deployed.


Navy Airman Candis E. Sandle, daughter of Melba and Kenneth Marrero of Bryan, is on a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa, homeported in San Diego. She was part of a coalition amphibious force that participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sandle is a 2001 graduate of Bryan High School and joined the Navy in July 2001.


Heather Chavez, daughter of Robert and Mary Jane Chavez of Bryan, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2003 Semester at Sam Houston State University.

Miss Chavez, a first-grade bilingual teacher, will attend Texas Woman’s University this fall and begin graduate studies for a master’s degree in early childhood education.


Leah Gronberg of College Station was named to the Union University President’s List for the spring 2003 semester.
