A Madisonville woman died Thursday as the result of injuries she suffered in an automobile accident eight days earlier in Madison County, officials said.

Glenda Pearl Smith, 54, died at about 7 a.m. Thursday at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Department of Public Safety troopers said Smith was driving a 1994 Pontiac on U.S. 190 west of Madisonville at about 9:30 p.m. Feb. 16 when she tried to turn into a private driveway. She failed to yield the right of way to a 2004 Dodge truck traveling in the opposite direction, troopers said, and the two vehicles collided.

No one else was injured.
