Man arrested on charges of aggravated assault

Eagle Staff Report

A Bryan man was arrested Saturday after a woman told police he grabbed her crotch area twice, and then stabbed her in the thigh after she slapped the man and told him to stop.

Maurice Bullocks, 41, remained in the Brazos County Jail on Sunday on 15,000 bail. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

If convicted, he could face two to 20 years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000.

Police were called to the 900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Street on Saturday to find a woman wearing white pants that were soaked in blood because she had a puncture wound in her right thigh.

The woman told an officer that she was standing on a raised porch when a man she didn’t know approached her and then reached through the railing and grabbed her crotch, according to court records. The woman said she told the man to stop, but he did it again, so she slapped him, police said.

At that time, police said, the man took out a small lock blade knife and stuck it in her thigh. The man walked away, police said, brandishing the knife to another woman as he moved east down Martin Luther King Jr. Street.

A Bryan police officer working at the Bryan Housing Authority spotted a man matching the suspect’s description. The officer approached the man, who was identified as Bullocks, police said.

According to court records, the officer located a small lock blade knife in Bullocks’ possession that appeared to have blood stains on it.
