Jack Wendell Beard

March 20, 1931 — Oct. 24, 2004

NAVASOTA — Graveside services for Jack Wendell Beard, 73, of College Station are set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Stoneham Cemetery in Stoneham.

The Rev. Tony Meeks will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

Mr. Beard died Sunday in College Station.

He was born in Wagoner, Okla., and was retired from BP Amoco.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Beard of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Tina Beard of Montgomery; a daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Rob Thaggard of Montgomery; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Jeff Jarrell of Sugar Land; an aunt; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Hope Cancer Center, 2703 Osler Blvd., Bryan, Texas 77802 or to a charity of choice.

Rosa ‘Rosie’ Maria Espinoza

Dec. 9, 1959 — Oct. 24, 2004

MADISONVILLE — Services for Rosa “Rosie” Maria Espinoza, 44, of Madisonville are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in North Zulch.

The Rev. Albert Loeschman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at J.M. Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville.

Mrs. Espinoza died Sunday in Bryan.

She was born in Brownsville and was a member of the National Honor Society and Who’s Who. She was a teacher’s aide at the Madisonville school district.

Survivors include her husband, Rocky Espinoza I; her mother, Taffy Ortiz; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Rocky II and Miranda Espinoza, Lee Espinoza and Zachary Espinoza, all of Madisonville; a daughter, Roxanne Espinoza of Madisonville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Norma Attleson of Houston and Erik Ortiz of Tennessee; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cora and Bobby Garrett of Madisonville and Mary and Dennis Thurman of Houston; her in-laws, Santos and Irene Gonzales of Houston; and numerous other relatives.

Dorothy M. Jozwiak

Feb. 3, 1935 — Oct. 23, 2004

BRENHAM — Services for Dorothy Jozwiak, 69, of Houston are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill.

The Rev. Gene Shepard will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jozwiak died Saturday in Houston.

She was born in Chappell Hill and was retired from Bemis Co., Inc. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Survivors include two brothers and a sister-in-law, Leonard Jozwiak of Houston and Clemens and Linda Jozwiak of Chappell Hill; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Stephanie and Leon Kolajajak, Florence Jozwiak, Virginia Jozwiak and Irene and Bobby Janecek, all of Houston.

Edwin Korth

July 5, 1910 — Oct. 24, 2004

BRENHAM — Services for Edwin Korth, 94, of Brenham are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Salem.

The Rev. Bill Derrick will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Korth died Sunday.

He was born in the Zionsville community of Washington County and was a retired farmer and rancher. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Rodenbeck Korth of Brenham; a daughter and son-in-law, Joy Ann and Raymond Dickschat of Washington; a son-in-law, John A. Sommer of Boerne; a sister-in-law, Norma Winkelmann of Brenham; six grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.

Dennis Daniel Marek

May 15, 1934 — Oct. 23, 2004

CALDWELL — Services for Dennis Daniel Marek, 70, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Tabor Brethren Church in Caldwell.

The Revs. David Johnson and Tony Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Marek died Saturday at his home.

He was born in Caldwell and was retired as a carpenter and from the cotton gin industry. He also was a farmer and rancher most of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Meier of Caldwell; a brother and sister-in-law, Emil E. and Myrtle Marek of Caldwell; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Edwin R. Kovar of Snook; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ervin and Charlene Meier of Somerville; nine nephews; and four nieces.

Davis T. McGill Jr.

Nov. 23, 1928 — Oct. 24, 2004

Services for Davis T. McGill Jr., 75, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Central Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Tim Skaggs of Central Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mr. McGill died Sunday at Sheridan of Bryan.

He was born in Orange and lived in Bryan since 1965. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in business administration in 1960 and opened A.G. Edwards and Sons in Bryan in 1965, serving as vice president and general manager from 1965 to 2000.

He was a member of the Brazos Union Masonic Lodge 129 for 50 years, the Brazos Valley Shrine Club, the Arabia Temple of Houston, Saint Albans Masonic Lodge and the Royal Order of Jesters of Waco. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma McGill of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Rene McGill of Houston; a daughter, Cara L. McGill of Bryan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Merle and Otis Stracener and Peggy and Joe Culpepper, all of Houston; a niece; an aunt; and two grandsons.

Micah David Schoessow

Aug. 7, 2003 — Oct. 24, 2004

NAVASOTA — Services for Micah David Schoessow, 14 months, of Anderson are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson.

The Revs. Donald Kasper and Matt Jacobs will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Micah died Sunday in Anderson.

He was born in Bryan and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his parents, the Rev. Dan and Courtney Schoessow of Anderson; and his grandparents, Ferris and Mary Watson of Royce City and Gerhard and Dorothy Schoessow of McQuon, Wis.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Anderson.

Morene J. Stewart

May 20, 1920 — Oct. 24, 2004

ROCKDALE — Services for Morene J. Stewart, 84, of Rockdale are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Rev. Doug Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church will officiate. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stewart died Sunday at Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale.

She was born in Rockdale and lived in Rockdale for 53 years. She was a lifelong resident of Milam County except for a short time when she lived in Houston. She was a homemaker and was a member of Church of the Crossroads in Thorndale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert D. “Jack” Stewart.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janice K. and Kenneth Bounds of Rockdale; a sister-in-law, Catherine Jackson; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four nieces; and numerous other relatives.
