Plane flips over at Hearne airport

Eagle Staff Report

A single-engine plane attempting to take off Saturday from Hearne Municipal Airport flipped onto its top after a gust of wind forced it off the runway.

The pilot, 22-year-old Justin Shemo, and his passenger, 41-year-old Brandon Ferrante, were about to take off when the wind caused the aircraft to hit a bale of hay and flip over, according to a Department of Public Safety report.

Ferrante was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Bryan, where he was treated for a minor scratch, according to the report. Shemo was not injured, the report states.
