Robertson County wreck kills one, hurts another

On Page A9 Friday, a brief should have said Carmen Kelling of College Station was traveling southbound on F.M. 46 when her vehicle struck the right passenger side of Susanne Claypool’s vehicle.

A 50-year-old Franklin woman was killed and a 21-year-old College Station woman was injured Wednesday night in a wreck on F.M. 46 in Robertson County, Department of Public Safety troopers said.

Susanne Claypool of Franklin was traveling northbound at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when she attempted to round a curve and her vehicle began to skid, according to a DPS accident report.

Carmen Kelling of College Station was traveling southbound when Claypool’s vehicle struck hers on the right passenger side, according to the report. Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound bar ditch.

Claypool was pronounced dead at the scene, the report states. Kelling was taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, where she was treated and released.

The accident remains under investigation.
