The Brazos Valley Czech Heritage Society recently awarded $500 Novak-Zaeske Memorial Scholarships to two graduating high school seniors, Marlee Kopetsky and Kirk John “KJ” Macik Jr.

Marlee is a graduate of College Station High School and the daughter of Dana and Brad Kopetsky. She will attend Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey, where she plans to major in chemical engineering.

Kirk is a graduate of Snook High School and the son of Sharyle and Kirk Macik Sr. Kirk will attend Texas A&M University, where he plans to major in business/accounting.

BVCHS this year also awarded the Matush Czech Heritage Scholarship to Emily Hubacek of Bryan. The $500 scholarship was made possible by a donation to BVCHS by John and Sandy Matush.

Emily is the daughter of Lisa and Richard Hubacek and attends Texas A&M University, where she is majoring in interdisciplinary studies.
