An innovative regional effort to help Navasota clean up after a disastrous storm in April has been recognized by the Brazos Valley Council of Governments with a Regional Solid Waste Planning Award. When the City of Navasota was overwhelmed by the number of trees and branches felled by the storm, it issued a call for help. The City of Bryan, Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Wallace Pack and O.L. Luther prisons, and Republic Services all responded by donating workers and equipment to gather and recycle the debris.
