OnRamp car gift

Amy Bowles serves as the director of the Women’s Recovery Center at CrossCentral Church, helping women recover from drug and alcohol addiction.

OnRamp, a local automotive charity, partnered with a church and multiple businesses to donate a car to a woman in need Aug. 23.

According to a press release, Amy Bowles serves as the director of the Women’s Recovery Center at CrossCentral Church, helping women recover from drug and alcohol addiction, but she lacked reliable transportation to help get the women to court appointments, medical visits and job interviews.

OnRamp stated in the press release that the vehicle — a 2007 Toyota Camry — was donated to the organization by a recent graduate of the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. Bryan-College Station Toyota did extensive repair work on the vehicle at a discounted price, Jiffy Lube at Tower Point donated new tires, Ag Solar Guard donated a window tint, and Maldonado Detailing prepared the car for the presentation.

It is the 28th vehicle that OnRamp has donated since October 2017. To learn more about OnRamp, visit www.onramptx.org.
