More than 2,000 Blinn College students earned academic honors during the fall 2013 semester. Blinn named 844 students to its elite president's scholars list, while 1,221 were named dean's scholars. To be named a president's scholar, students must earn a 3.75 grade point average while taking at least 12 credit hours and passing all their courses. Students must attain a 3.25 GPA to earn dean's scholar recognition. Blinn's academic transfer rate is the highest in the state and 21 percent higher than the state average. The college was also named one of the top community colleges in the state by Schools.com for its positive impact on the Texas economy, and AffordableCollegesOnline.org recently listed Blinn among the most affordable large community colleges in the nation.
