On May 28, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute was awarded a Patriotic Employer Award during a presentation at its new headquarters on The Texas A&M University System’s RELLIS Campus.
The award was presented by George Nelson, the area chair of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, which is part of the U.S. Department of Defense.
“We present this award to TTI for hiring members of the military and supporting them and their families,” Nelson told Institute employees attending the presentation. “When families have to struggle with issues of deployment, you help carry that load.”
The award was presented to TTI Senior Research Engineer Bill Eisele, the head of the mobility division. Eisele is the supervisor of TTI Research Scientist Nicole Katsikides, who nominated Eisele and TTI because of the support she has received since her husband was deployed to the Middle East.
“I’m so fortunate to work for a supervisor and employer who’s both trusting and understanding so that I can continue to work and do well in my position as well as support my two children,” Katsikides wrote as part of the nomination letter. She also said that the pro-military culture at TTI provides her with peace of mind.
