A&M Consolidated offensive coordinator Brian Cope announced Tuesday that he’s stepping down to become Belton’s offensive coordinator and assistant athletic director.

“For the last six years I have called A&M Consolidated home,” Cope said in a message to The Eagle. “I am very thankful for all the great memories and friends I have made. It is now on to another adventure … I look forward to this opportunity and now still get to say, ‘Go Tigers!’”

Cope joined Consol's staff in 2011 from Cypress Falls with former head football coach David Raffield, who resigned last December. Former Navasota coach and Consol graduate Lee Fedora has since been hired as the next head football coach and athletic coordinator.

Cope will join the staff of Belton first-year head football coach Sam Skidmore, who was the team’s offensive coordinator last season.

Under Cope and Raffield, the Tigers went to the postseason six straight seasons and had a 46-26 record. Raffield is now the head football coach and athletic coordinator at Cypress-Fairbanks Bridgeland, set to open for the 2017-18 school year.
