Another week has passed and another Rudder boys basketball player landed on USA Today’s Top Five Texas High School Dunks of the Week.
After senior Ladarius Johnson came in at No. 1 in last week’s list, fellow senior Josh Johnson cracked the list at No. 5 for a two-handed jam over a Temple defender in the team’s win over the Wildcats last Tuesday.
While Ladarius Johnson's slam was of the put-back variety, Josh Johnson got a pass from sophomore Korbin Cunningham near the right wing, took a step, and jammed it with two hands on top of a Temple defender.
Josh and Ladarius Johnson, who both played wide receiver for Rudder’s football team, have provided several highlight-reel dunks this year and were averaging a combined 11.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game going into Tuesday’s game against Bryan.
With a chance to clinch a playoff berth the Rangers were defeated by the Vikings 62-49 at The Armory.
The Rangers will have their work cut out for them if they want to crack USA Today’s list three weeks in a row, as they travel to play Waco University on Friday, the No. 1-ranked Class 5A boys team.
