The soon-to-be Bryan-College Station minor-league soccer team, which will be an affiliate of the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer, is down to eight finalists for the team name, team president Uri Geva announced Monday in a release.

Out of nearly 400 community submissions, here are the eight finalists: BCS United FC, Brazos Valley Blast, Brazos Valley Brigade, Brazos Valley Cannons, Brazos Valley Cavalry, Brazos Valley Rail Runners, Brazos Valley Stealth, Brazos Valley Volts.

“We are excited to get the communities input on our team identity,” said Geva in the release.  “We are so blessed by the amount of support we have received so far and we’re looking forward to being one step closer to our debut season!”

Geva, who also owns the Brazos Valley Bombers, announced on Jan. 16 that he purchased the Premier Development League team. The team will have its home opener on June 5 at Nutrabolt Stadium, which is also home of the Bombers.

There are expected to be $1.86 million worth of renovations to Nutrabolt Stadium to accommodate the the team, including a new scoreboard, field turf and a new grandstand.
