NEW BRAUNFELS — Rudder played Dripping Springs to a 0-0 tie through eight innings then beat San Marcos 6-4 in six innings Friday at the New Braunfels tournament.

Rudder (6-0-1) managed just two hits against Dripping Springs, but Rangers starter Jearemy Johnson and reliever Elijah Adams scattered eight hits over eight shutout innings to help force the tie via the tournament time limit.

Against San Marcos, Brady Batten went 3 for 3 with a double, triple and home run to lead Rudder, while Johnson and Chace Bledsoe each had two hits.

Rudder will face Amarillo Canyon at 12:30 p.m. and Smithson Valley at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Smithson Valley to wrap up play in the New Braunfels tournament.
