The Brazos Valley Bombers will play the Texarkana Twins for the Texas Collegiate League title at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Travis Field.
Admission is free, courtesy of College Station Ford and Baylor Scott & White Health.
The Bombers (36-16) are looking for their sixth title in seven years. The second-year Twins (24-26) are in the postseason for the first time.
Texarkana ousted the defending champion Victoria Generals (35-20) by holding on for a 4-3 victory Monday night in the rubber game of their best-of-3 divisional series. Twins’ starting pitcher Brock Booker threw six shutout innings and Hudson Hopkins hit a solo home run and doubled home what proved to be the winner in the eighth as the Generals scored a run in the eighth and another in the ninth, but left two runners stranded as Coby Potvin flew out to end the game.
The Bombers advanced to the title game by sweeping the Acadiana Cane Cutters (18-34). Acadiana eliminated the Bombers last year in the divisional playoffs with a 3-2 victory. The Cane Cutters then fell to Victoria in the three-game championship series.
The wooden-bat league switched the playoff format this year, making the first round the best-of-3 series and the title matchup one game.
