Caldwell defensive back and Texas A&M signee Devin Morris landed on the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A all-state third team, which came out on Wednesday.
Most teams facing the Hornets were already aware of the 6-foot-2, 175-pound defensive back’s prowess, mostly avoiding his side of the field, but he still managed three interceptions, 42 tackles and six pass breakups.
Morris officially signed with the Aggies back on the Feb. 1 national signing day, joining Bremond’s Roshauud Paul in the Aggies’ 2017 class. He was the only Brazos Valley player to make one of the TSWA’s three Class 4A all-state teams.
Morris’ teammates, junior running back Domonique Chambers, made the team as an honorable mention. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound all-purpose back rushed for 1,462 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also catching 21 passes for 294 yards and six touchdowns.
Both players were District 10-4A-II first-team selections and Chambers also made the first team as a kick returner.
