AUSTIN — College Station’s Colton Johse hit the first pitch he saw to the gap in right-center field to score Brody Vaughn from third base and complete a 9-8 come-from-behind victory over Washington County in the 11-year-old Little League Section 1 tournament on Saturday night.
Vaughn had cleared the bases with a thre-run triple to tie the game at 8-8 in the sixth.
College Station took a 3-2 lead in the first inning, loading the bases with singles by Dallas Nowak, Michael Pozzi, and John Lewis Pierce III. Brek Roberts and Vaughn both walked to force in runs and Brett Basham stroked a RBI single.
Washington Couty took advantage of CS miscues and two hits to score six runs in the second inning.
CS got one run back in the second on a Pierce sacrifice fly that scored Johse, who had singled. Tyler Bandfield also had a bunt single in the inning.
Dallas Nowak pitched the final four innings for College Station, striking out 10 and allowing no runs and only one hit.
Bandfield, Johse, Nowak, Pozzi and Vaughn all led the offense with two hits each. Roberts contributed 2 RBI’s, going 1-3 at the plate with a walk.
