College Station defensive coordinator Ken Stapp has retired from teaching and coaching, Cougars head football coach Steve Huff confirmed Tuesday.

Stapp coached at College Station for seven years. His son, Ryan Stapp, was a TSWA honorable mention all-state defensive back for the Cougars.

College Station promoted linebackers coach Chance Locklear to defensive coordinator. Before coming to College Station in 2012, Locklear coached at Caldwell and Hearne. At Caldwell, he served as the offensive line coach for five years and went 1-9 in one season as head coach.
