GATESVILLE – The Cameron Yoemen scored 34 points in the second half to pull away for a 41-21 nondistrict victory over the Gatesville Hornets.

Offensive player of the week: A&M Consolidated senior running back Steven Ray rushed 10 times for 128 yards and caught four passes for 139 yards with three total touchdowns to help the Tigers to a 48-7 road victory against Killeen Ellison.

The 2017 Texas Associated Press Sports Editors Class 3A all-state high school football team, released Monday. Voting based on regular-season performance. Players are listed in alphabetical order at each position.

ROBINSON — Teague’s Tayvis Coleman ran for 237 yards and three touchdowns to help put away Cameron 40-14 in the Class 3A Division I bi-district playoffs Thursday.

The Rockdale football team will open the Class 3A Division I playoffs with a bi-district game against Malakoff at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Crockett. The game is a rematch from last season when Malakoff knocked off Rockdale in the third round of the playoffs.

CAMERON — Zack Andress completed 12 of 21 passes for 168 yards and four touchdowns to set the pace in Cameron’s 35-0 shutout of Troy on Friday in District 10-3A Division I action.

LITTLE RIVER-ACADEMY — Zack Andress threw three long touchdown passes to Iverson Westbrook, and Nico Vargas scored on offense and defense to lead Cameron to a 41-0 shutout of Little River-Academy in District 10-3A Division I play Friday.

CAMERON — The Rockdale Tigers scored five touchdowns in the third quarter in rolling to a 63-34 victory over the Cameron Yoemen in District 10-3A Division I action Friday at Yoe Field.

JARRELL — Zack Andress threw for 238 yards and five touchdowns to help pace Cameron’s 55-0 shutout of Jarrell in District 10-3A Division I play Friday.

MCGREGOR — Cameron’s Zack Andress threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns, but McGregor used 17 second-half points to beat the Yoemen 31-25 to open District 10-3A Division I play Friday.

BAY CITY — Cameron’s Zack Andress scored on a 1-yard run in overtime, but the Yoemen’s two-point conversion pass for the win failed, giving Bay City a 30-29 victory in nondistrict action.

College Station's Aaron Nutall had touchdown runs of 50 and 38 yards and Trey Winn added scoring runs of 8 and 11 yards but it wasn't enough as Cameron JV defeated the College Station Purple 53-40.

CHINA SPRING — China Spring used a 14-point third quarter and enough defense to hold off Zack Andress and Cameron Yoemen in nodistrict action. 

CAMERON — Cameron’s Nico Vargas returned a late kickoff to Gatesville’s 1-yard line, but a penalty followed by a fumble cost the Yoemen a chance at rallying as the Hornets held on for a 31-26 victory.

CAMERON — Zack Andress, D.J. Fripp and Iverson Westbrook fueled a 500-yard performance by Cameron’s offense as the Yoemen opened the season with a 40-14 nondistrict victory over Bellville on Saturday.

Three-time regional champions Erin Blanchard and Blake King of Rockdale will have to wait a month before returning to the UIL State Tennis Championships.
