THRALL — The Hearne Eagles scored in every quarter in grabbing a 48-25 victory over the Thrall Tigers in District 13-2A-I play. Hearne (3-3, 1-1) took a 28-12 halftime lead. Thrall (4-2, 1-1) had a two-game winning streak snapped.

As the clock wound down last week, Anderson-Shiro football players and coaches hugged and congratulated each other. There was plenty of reason to celebrate the 46-0 win over a talented Brazos Christian team, but one thing stuck out.

HEARNE — Hearne wrapped up its nondistrict football schedule with a bang, defeating Lexington 59-6 on Friday.

HEARNE – The Cornerstone Christian Warriors from San Antonio remained unbeaten with a 51-7 nondistrict victory over Hearne on Friday. Hearne dropped to 1-2.

FRANKLIN — Sophomore Marcus Wade Jr., passed for two touchdowns and was part of a powerful running attack that had 351 yards as the Franklin Lions rolled to a 49-6 victory over the Hearne Eagles in a Friday high school football opener matching Robertson County teams.

Dennis Stewart will be the new head boys basketball coach at Hearne, athletic director/head football coach Ricky Sargent announced Monday.

SAN ANTONIO — No. 1 Shelbyville got off to a hot start and left no doubt Friday morning, beating No. 10 Hearne 83-51 in a Class 2A boys basketball state semifinal at the Alamodome. Hearne’s season ends at 25-4. Shelbyville (38-3) will face Gruver (17-4) in the championship at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Hearne will play top-ranked Shelbyville in the UIL Class 2A boys basketball state semifinals at 10 a.m. Friday at the Alamodome.

Hearne junior guard Damian Dunn found himself at the free-throw line four times in the final two minutes of the Eagles’ Class 2A bi-district game against Iola on Monday night at Tiger Gym. The Bulldogs were surging, and it was up to Dunn to keep them at arm’s length.
