GRAPELAND — Despite a fourth-quarter rally, Grapeland beat Normangee 32-21 on Friday night in nondistrict action. 

NORMANGEE – Normangee grabbed a 37-12 nondistrict victory over the Lovelady Lions in a battle of 0-2 teams that gave Panther first-year coach Keith Sitton his first victory.

IOLA — Iola’s Blake Driver threw touchdown passes to Colton Boullion and Adam Crenshaw and ran for a TD in the first half, and the Bulldogs held off Normangee in a tense second half for a 32-29 victory Friday in nondistrict play.

NORMANGEE — Normangee didn’t back down after Bremond nabbed an early lead in the football teams’ season opener Friday night, but the Tigers largely kept the Panthers at arm’s reach after pulling ahead for good in the final second of the first quarter.

Many teams run the spread offense to create mismatches in space for the passing game, but not Normangee. The Panthers not only want to run the football from the spread but do it between the tackles.

CROCKETT — The Alto Yellowjackets beat the Normangee Panthers 47-16 in Class 2A Division I bi-district action Thursday night.

CAYUGA — Normangee quarterback Mason Hardy had a 27-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for the only points in the Panthers’ victory over the Cayuga Wildcats in 9-2A Division I play.
