Somerville named Cal Neatherlin its new head football coach at a school board meeting Tuesday night.

Neatherlin comes from San Antonio Southwest, where he served as an assistant for four years. Before that, he was a longtime assistant at Midland, where he helped snap a 51-year playoff drought.

Neatherlin is the seventh head coach at Somerville in as many seasons, replacing Greg Bagby, who left after one year.

The Yeguas went 1-9 last year. They will open the season against Iola at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 at Yegua Stadium.
