The early days of Brazos County are the focus of a new book.Brazos County Memories: A Photographic History of the Early Years includes snapshots of people and places from the past. The book was published by The Eagle in a collaborative project with the Brazos Valley African American Museum, the city of College Station, the Carnegie History Center and the Cushing Memorial Library and Archives.The book, which covers the history of Brazos County from the mid-1800s through 1939, includes contributions from area residents, who shared family photos and stories.There are hundreds of photos in the 144-page book that highlight the area’s early settlers, with chapters on business, education, agriculture, community, recreation, public service, transportation and more.
