Your next oyster on the half shell may just be spawned in a Texas A&M System lab and raised in floating cages.

Thanks to some of our researchers, off-bottom oyster farming is coming to the Texas Gulf Coast. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Harte Research Institute and AgriLife are bringing an entirely new marine industry to Texas in in 2020.

And they might even be developing a Texas A&M-branded oyster.
