A Bryan man was arrested Tuesday after authorities said he led law enforcement on an 11-minute car chase into Grimes County.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Jimmy Morgan, around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, a state trooper attempted to stop a car traveling south on Texas 6 in Brazos County. The driver did not heed the patrol vehicle’s signals and led the trooper on a chase through Navasota onto Texas 105 East. As he drove, officials said, drugs that were later recovered by troopers were tossed out of the vehicle.

The man, identified as Cedric Dewayne Love, 41, stopped at a home on Texas 105, but Morgan said he did not comply with police instructions and was tasered by a Navasota police officer.

The man was taken to a local hospital after he told authorities he had swallowed some drugs, Morgan said. He was checked by medical officials and was later booked into the Grimes County Jail.

Love is charged with a second-degree felony count of possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence and evading in a vehicle, both third-degree felonies.

Bond had not yet been set.
