A College Station man was sentenced to 20 years in prison last week after being convicted by a Brazos County jury of aggravated robbery.

Alexander Castillo, 24, threatened an employee at Fatty’s Smoke Shop on Texas Avenue with a handgun and took money from the cash register, according to the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office. The employee was able to film Castillo leaving the store with her phone, police reported.

Officers recognized Castillo from the video and arrested him at a Bryan store, authorities said.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, police found numerous stolen debit cards, Social Security cards, checkbooks and other items with personal financial information in Castillo’s vehicle after his arrest.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Steve Zimmerman and Natalie Tise.
