A Somerville man was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest with a vehicle this week and was sentenced to 99 years in prison.

Richard Laredo Jr., 37, will not be eligible for parole until he has served half his sentence, officials with the Burleson County District Attorney's Office said in a statement announcing the conviction.

Laredo was arrested in March 2018 after a five-mile car chase that ended with his tires being shot out near Lyons, officials said. The pursuit began after law enforcement officers responded to a family violence call in which a woman reported being beaten.
