Three people are in custody after the report of an aggravated robbery at Academy Sports + Outdoors in College Station, authorities said.

De Angela Marquisha Merrill, 26, of Houston, is charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison. A 31-year-old Houston man and an 18-year-old Houston woman are charged with misdemeanor theft.

Bail information on the three was not available Saturday evening

According to College Station police, around 4:45 p.m., authorities received a report that a store manager followed two women into the parking lot as he tried to stop them for shoplifting. As the women joined a third person in a waiting vehicle, a man in the parking lot moved his truck to try to block the suspects’ vehicle from leaving.

Police said one member of the group pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the citizen and demanded he move his truck, which he did. The theft suspects then left Academy.

Authorities said officers located the vehicle southbound on Texas 6, and pulled it over. The three were detained without incident.

The public is not in danger and the incident remains under investigation, police said.
