A College Station man was arrested Thursday after police say he beat a woman in public, which led to the discovery of a second woman who was being forced to prostitute herself.
According to College Station police, a woman called police from a business on Texas Avenue around 6;15 p.m. Thursday and said Oran Taylor Isaiah, 36, whom she knew, had grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head into his car. The woman said she sprayed Isaiah with pepper spray and he was inside the business, where he had locked himself in the bathroom.
As police continued to interview the woman, she said Isaiah was compelling a woman to prostitute herself at a motel on Texas Avenue. Authorities arrived at the motel and spoke with the victim.
According to police, the second woman admitted she had been servicing clients she met through online escort service ads. A report states the woman said she had seen 100 to 150 people in the past week, and that Isaiah would keep the profits for himself, giving her money for the vending machine and to send back to her family. The woman said he had driven her to College Station from Houston under the pretense of helping her escape from prostitution but had trapped her at the motel without a car.
He is charged with compelling prostitution by force and assault family violence with previous convictions, both second-degree felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison. He is being held in the Brazos County Jail on $18,000 bond.
