A 22-year-old Humble man pleaded guilty this week to murder in exchange for a 15-year prison sentence, the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office announced via Facebook on Friday.
Tyrus Peters asked to accept the plea agreement, a deal that he had earlier rejected, on Wednesday as his trial on murder charges was about to begin.
District Attorney Andria Bender said the family of David Brown, the victim in the case, indicated it preferred the plea deal to a trial.
Officials said Peters shot Brown at a Stoneham residence over a debt on April 12, 2016.
A 2017 trial resulted in a hung jury.
