A Bryan man was arrested Thursday after authorities said he caused thousands of dollars in damage when he broke a grocery store’s glass door with his head.
According to Bryan police, officers responded to possible criminal mischief at a pizza restaurant on Texas Avenue, where a window had been hit. Shortly afterward, they were called to the H-E-B on Villa Maria Road, where an employee said a man was banging his head against the glass door. The man’s description was similar to the description given in the pizza restaurant incident.
Once officers arrived, they were told the person had broken the doors with his head. Authorities quickly noticed Joe Allen Rodriguez, 42, walking outside and appearing disoriented. He told officers he had taken a Red Bull energy drink, consumed the beverage and broke the glass door with his head, a report notes. He also indicated he may have damaged a window at a pizza restaurant, police said.
Rodriguez is charged with causing $3,250 in damage to the store, a state jail felony punishable by up to two years in a state jail and $10,000 in fines; public intoxication and theft of less than $100, both misdemeanors. He remains in the Brazos County Jail on $5,835 bond.
