Longtime Brazos Valley Texas Ranger Frank Malinak has returned to Waco as a major in command of a 42-county stretch of Central Texas.
He will lead Texas Rangers Company F, which covers counties from Dallas to San Antonio and from Llano to Victoria.
"Bryan-College Station will always be home, but Waco kind of feels like my second home," the Texas A&M graduate said of the move.
After spending almost 20 years in the Brazos Valley as a Texas Ranger and auto theft agent for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Malinak was promoted to lieutenant in 2009 and assigned to supervise Company F in Waco, where he was among 30 Rangers who responded to the Fort Hood shooting. In 2012, he moved to Austin as a captain.
Returning to his former home, Malinak said he will bring his experience in the Brazos Valley to his new position.
"I'll bring familiarity of the area," he said. "I'll bring my experience, and I'll bring my enthusiasm."
