Author Deborah Elum will be speaking to the Texas A&M University Women’s Club Book Group on Monday.

The group meets from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Barnes & Noble in College Station, with Elum scheduled to speak at 10 a.m.

Elum said her latest children’s book, Miss McDoogle has the Giggles, was inspired by her fourth-grade music teacher at South Knoll Elementary School in the 1970s.

The author, who lives in Humble, has written magazine articles, sitcoms and several other books for adults and children.
