One person died in a Robertson County house fire early Thursday.

Robertson County Sheriff Gerald Yezak said a passerby reported the fire at a single-story residence along F.M. 979 about 3 miles east of Calvert at 3:26 a.m.

A Calvert police officer was the first to arrive about 3:30 a.m. and said the home had already collapsed.

The identity of the body that was recovered from the burned home had not been positively identified, and authorities were waiting on an autopsy, which was scheduled for Friday, Yezak said.

The state fire marshal's office was investigating the fire, but no cause had been determined Thursday afternoon.
