A Brenham woman accused of trafficking a minor is now in federal custody and has been indicted, officials said.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Samantha Sanders, 22, was indicted on three counts of sex trafficking of a minor on June 18. She is accused of recruiting, harboring and soliciting three minors for commercial sex acts. Sanders is accused of benefiting financially from her involvement in the trafficking.
If convicted, she faces a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison.
Sanders made her first appearance in court Thursday, where she was ordered into custody pending a detention hearing Monday.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation worked with the Houston Police Department as part of the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance to investigate.
