A Bryan man arrested last week now faces additional charges after authorities said he choked, beat and hog-tied a pregnant woman.
Bryan resident Casey Aaron Meehl, 27, was arrested last week after authorities said he discharged a gun in his apartment building in March and kicked a pregnant woman on July 8.
According to Bryan police, while detectives investigated the original assault case, the victim said Meehl had assaulted her repeatedly. The woman said on July 8, Meehl also strangled her multiple times and tied her hands and ankles together with handcuffs, dragging her through the house and leaving her restrained for two hours. He is accused of kicking her at least seven times, punching her, slapping her and using a separated door hinge to press into her throat. At one point, the woman, who is pregnant, began experiencing Braxton Hicks symptoms, and Meehl drove her to a local hospital for treatment.
The woman drove to the police department the next day to report the incident.
In previous reports, Meehl said he had been enrolled in a police academy but had failed out. According to an email from the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Meehl had attended the police academy but did not finish. The Roane County Sheriff’s Office of Kingston, Tennessee, stated a man named Casey Meehl was employed with their department from June 2015 until March 2016.
Meehl now faces charges of assault of a family member by strangulation, unlawful restraint and exposure to serious bodily injury and continuous family violence, all third-degree felonies each punishable by up to 10 years in prison. He was released from the Brazos County Jail on $120,000 bond.
