A Bryan man is accused of being involved in a scuffle with police, during which he allegedly punched, hit and kicked two police officers.
According to Bryan police, officers were patrolling the parking lot of a local motel and saw a man and woman standing next to a vehicle. One officer recognized Jordan Matthew Candee, 25, though Candee said his name was “Matt Barnes,” police said.
As the officer attempted to arrest Candee, police say Candee struggled against him. The second officer moved in to help, and Candee pulled away. According to authorities, Candee punched one officer in the shoulder before kicking his thighs and forearms. He then hit and punched the second officer’s face, officials said. Candee was eventually subdued.
Both officers suffered minor bruises, and one officer had a bloody scratch to the face.
Police said Candee was found to have crystal methamphetamine when searched.
He is charged with two counts of assault on a public servant and possession of more than a gram of meth, third-degree felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison; and Class A misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and failure to identify. He is being held in the Brazos County Jail on $56,000 bond.
