A Cameron man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after a Milam County jury found him guilty of murder.

According to Milam County District Attorney Bill Torrey, a jury found 36-year-old Alvin Dejuan Melton guilty of first-degree murder after a three-day trial. On Thursday, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison and must serve at least half of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

A Temple Daily Telegram article on Melton’s indictment states he was accused of shooting and killing 32-year-old Courtney Latrell Williams of Cameron in September 2017.
