Five things to do this weekend around Bryan-College Station

Aggieland is hopping again and so are the events around town. This weekend features the Aggie Back to School Bash with Cody Johnson, the Sassy Shoe Social and other great community events. For more happenings, check out the online events calendar.

• The annual Aggie Back to School Bash is Saturday at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater. The concert is aimed for all ages. Performers include Cody Johnson, Parker McCollum, Deryl Dodd and Jesse Raub Jr. Tickets range from $30 to $100. • The Sassy Shoe Social event on Saturday gives people the opportunity to walk the runway in their favorite pair of shoes, socialize and possibly win a prize while giving to a good cause while raising awareness about domestic abuse. The event benefits Phoebe’s House – a resource for domestic abuse survivors. Tickets are $25. For more information, visit

• Welcome Neighbors Cookout & Children’s Playday is Saturday at Rock Prairie Baptist Church, 5000 Rock Prairie Road, College Station. The event will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. There will be games, a bounce house and a water slide for the children and plenty of hot dogs and hamburgers. 

• Join Hospice Brazos Valley and Slovacek’s for their 9th annual Hog Splash Mud Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. at Slovacek’s in Snook. The event is a fundraiser for Hospice Brazos Valley patients and families. For more information, visit www.hospicebrazosvalley.org or call 821-2266. The public is invited to watch and support.

• Musician Courtnie Ramirez, the Bryan native who competed on NBC’s The Voice in 2017, is having a release party Saturday for her new single. The party will take place at the Phillips Event Center in Bryan at 6:30 p.m. Ramirez’s song Perfectly Loved was released Aug. 15.
