Four people have been charged in connection to a May 20 assault in Iola, according to the Grimes County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said a man, whose identity was not released, was beaten, threatened with a knife, stripped and left in a pasture.

According to officials, Carl Ray Holmes Jr., 22 of Bryan, Sebastian Portales, 21 of Bryan, Chasiti Elizabeth Clark, 21 of Iola, and Naomi Lynn Durfee, 18 of Livingston, were arrested in northeast Harris County on May 21 following an investigation into the assault.

Investigators said Tuesday that over the course of the investigation they learned the man who was assaulted was suspected by the others of burglarizing a College Station residence belonging to one of the four people who were charged.

The man met with the group with the intention of selling them narcotics, according to the Grimes County Sheriff's Office, and was forcibly placed in a vehicle and driven to a pasture in Iola, where the suspects demanded their stolen property back, beat and stripped the victim, then left.

All four were charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony punishable by up to life in prison and a fine up to $10,000; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000; unlawful restraint exposed with serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and fine up to $10,000; and engaging in criminal activity, a first-degree felony.

Officials said the investigation into the case is continuing.
