A Houston man who Bryan authorities believe stabbed himself after doing the same to his girlfriend remained jailed late Sunday in connection with her death.

Defrederick Granderson, 30, was released from College Station Medical Center on Saturday, five days after he underwent treatment for the stab wounds, police said.

He initially was charged with evading and resisting arrest, but late Saturday the murder charge was added.

Police said Andrea Kimbrough, 33, was stabbed just before 4 a.m. Monday at her Wellington Avenue home and died about an hour later.

Granderson was seen driving away from the scene as patrol units arrived, but he refused to pull over when officers tried to stop him, police said, adding that the chase ended when he crashed his vehicle into a parked car on Timm Drive in College Station.

His bond was set at $60,000.
