A Jewett man was arrested Wednesday on a murder charge after authorities say he fatally shot a Centerville man.

According to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, 62-year-old Artis Perkins is accused of shooting and killing Raymond Johnson, 60, on County Road 322 early Wednesday. Authorities said Perkins shot Johnson during a fight. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Perkins is charged with murder, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison. He is being held in the Leon County Jail on $1 million bond.
