Lightning strikes near Texas A&M campus

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for parts of the Brazos Valley until late Tuesday.

Brazos, Burleson, Grimes and Washington counties  are under a severe thunderstorm watch until midnight.

According to the National Weather Service, a cold front is moving in with the storms that are expected to bring heavy winds. Temperatures are expected to dip into the low 50s tonight and tomorrow evening and top off in the low-to-mid 70s throughout the next couple of days. 

There is a chance for hail and an isolated chance of tornadoes. 

The forecast has prompted schools to postpone some events in anticipation of the storms. 

Rudder High School has announced that both varsity and junior varsity softball games are rescheduled for Wednesday. The junior varsity team will play at 5 p.m. and the varsity game will begin at 7 p.m. 

Bryan High School's softball games against Hendrickson have been postponed until Thursday. The junior varsity team will play at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity game will begin at 6 p.m. 

The match-up between A&M Consolidated and Rudder varsity baseball teams is starting early at 4 p.m. today in an effort to avoid the storm. 

The A&M Consolidated boys soccer game has been rescheduled to Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
