Accident on Texas 6 snarls traffic

UPDATE: A motorcyclist was taken to College Station Medical Center Monday afternoon with what authorities called incapacitating injuries.

Police said the motorcycle was headed south on Texas 6 when it left the road just after 4 p.m. and crashed in the median near the Southwest Parkway exit. The cause of the accident is unknown.

The motorcycle rider, a 21-year-old Madisonville man, was not identified by police.

College Station police are working an accident on southbound Texas 6 near the Southwest Parkway overpass.

Police haven't released details about the accident, though a motorcycle was apparently involved. Traffic is backed up from the exit near the Post Oak Mall to the William Joel Bryan/Boonville Road exit in Bryan.

The area around Texas 6 and Southwest Parkway is a construction area while the Texas Department of Transportation continues its work on highway ramps along the corridor. Speeds are reduced from 75 to 60 mph in the area.

More details will be posted as we received them.
