One person was killed Thursday afternoon in a collision in Grimes County.

According to Sgt. Jimmy Morgan with the Department of Public Safety, at around 4 p.m., a tractor-trailer traveling northbound on Texas 90 stopped just north of Anderson and waited for other traffic to pass before turning left. A pickup traveling northbound did not stop and crashed into the semi’s trailer.

The pickup driver, identified as 44-year-old Daryl Brooks, of Mexia, was taken to an CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, where he later died. Texas 90 was shut down for more than three hours while officials investigated, Morgan said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured and has not been issued a citation.
